Don Walston is the founder and chairman of Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston. A 50-year real estate industry veteran, Walston’s extensive experience spans nearly every sector of the real estate business from development and building to sales, management and brokerage.
Through Walston’s entrepreneurial vision and leadership over the past 43 years, Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston has become the largest full-service residential real estate company in the Triangle and is recognized as one of the leading realty firms in the nation. Named as one of the “Best Places to Work in the Triangle” by the Triangle Business Journal, the company has nearly 1,000 associates and employees. Sales exceeded $2.4 billion in 2015 with over 8,000 sides.
Beyond Walston’s business achievements, he is most proud of the establishment of the Howard Perry and Walston Foundation, a charitable arm of the company, which is committed to giving back to the community. To date, the HPW Foundation has given over $1,000,000 to community charities including, Habitat for Humanity, Military Missions in Action, Me Fine Foundation, Meals on Wheels, NC Arts in Action, UNC Lineberger Cancer Center and Turkeys for the Triangle.
Walston is an active member of the community serving on numerous boards in a variety of leadership roles. He has four children, five grandchildren and is a member of Bay Leaf Baptist Church in North Raleigh.
Tina brings 38+ years of experience in real estate, including new homes sales, general brokerage, relocation, and marketing. Under her leadership has managed over a billion dollars in new home sales in the Triangle’s most prestigious communities including master planned communities Preston, Wakefield Plantation, Traditions, and Chatham Park. Passionate about new homes, Tina and team work under the pretense that “People don't care what you know until they know how much you care”. Her vast professional experience includes Director of Sales for a hotel chain, New Homes Sales Associate for Robert D. Swain Company, New Homes Sales Manager for Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston New Homes & Land, Executive Director of Sales and Marketing for The Cypress of Raleigh, and Business Development for Rufty Homes.
Tina has served as the President of the Apex Chamber of Commerce, received the Top 25 Women in Business by the Triangle Business Journal, and served as Past Chair for North Carolina Theatre where she currently remains on the Emeritus Board. She is a member and past Director of the Raleigh Regional Board of Realtors and the Raleigh-Wake County National Association of Home Builders. Tina is a recipient of the Triangle Sales & Marketing Council Sales Manager of the Year and inducted into Howard Perry and Walston Hall of Fame. A graduate of UNC Chapel Hill, Tina and her husband, David, have two adult children, Chase, and English.
Chuck first joined New Homes & Land in 1992 as an on-site agent and has worked in some of the most prestigious neighborhoods in the Triangle, including Preston, Wakefield Plantation, and Heritage Wake Forest. In his current position, he works with our sales team managing, training, and motivating our agents to be successful in the new homes environment. He also works with our builder teams consulting during every phase of the building process from floor plan selection and pricing strategies to competitive positioning. Chuck is a member of the Raleigh Board of Realtors, the Raleigh-Wake County and National Home Builders Associations.
Chuck attended the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and North Carolina State University with an extensive background in marketing and management before starting his successful real estate career. He lives in Raleigh with his wife, Tammy, and is the proud father of 3 beautiful daughters.
Christian, who grew up in a family representing new home developments, joined our New Homes & Land team with over 10 years of experience. She is responsible for the development, management and execution of marketing programs that create awareness of our new home communities. In addition to strategic marketing, Christian is also in charge of event planning, public relations, branding, advertising, graphic design, social media, and website management. She is a member of the Triangle Sales and Marketing Council and the Raleigh-Wake County and National Home Builders Associations.
Born and raised in Cary, North Carolina, Christian is a graduate of UNC Charlotte earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. She and her husband, Chase Sommer, currently reside in Raleigh.
Michelle originally joined New Homes & Land as an Executive Assistant and currently holds the position of Administrative Manager. She came to our organization with 23 years of experience, bringing skills in the area of administrative work, contract preparations, accounts receivable/payable processing, payroll, event planning (local/national), personnel management, data reporting, schedule management, and customer service. She currently performs all of those tasks for New Homes & Land, with the exception of event planning and the addition of processing sales and closings.
Michelle is a member of the Triangle Sales and Marketing Council and the Raleigh-Wake County and National Association of Home Builders. She moved to North Carolina from Roanoke, VA in 2016 with her husband, Mike, and adult daughter, Mikala. Michelle graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
Beth joined Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston New Homes & Land as Land Acquisition Manager to further enhance our Land Acquisition team. Beth has been in the new construction and new home building industry for numerous years in various capacities, including sales, marketing, closings, accounting and land acquisition. She seeks land opportunities that will continue to help HPW New Homes & Land grow by securing new community locations throughout the Triangle and Triad for our developers/builder partners. She is a member of the Raleigh Regional Association of Realtors.
A graduate of Brenau Women's College, Beth brings a wealth of knowledge in market analysis, land acquisition,and real estate brokerage.
J.W. joined our team with 36+ years’ experience in both public and private positions relating to land development. A 10+ veteran general brokerage agent for HPW, his background includes 24 years as the Planning Manager for the Town of Cary handling development laws, annexations, subdivisions, and site plan reviews for new development, rezoning, and growth of the town. J.W. also served as the Planning Director of Elam Todd D’Amboisi, a development entitlement company which handled the master planning project for the largest private computer company in the world. He currently serves as a Land Planning Development Consultant for companies looking to expand in the Raleigh/Durham area and supports their processes for approval through governmental reviews ensuring each stage is handled successfully.
J.W. is a partner in a residential real estate development company in the Raleigh/Wake County area. A designated member of the AICP designation (American Institute of Certified Land Planners, he also currently serves as President of two HOA boards. J.W. is an ECU graduate with a degree in Urban and Regional Planning and secondary at UNC School of Government with a degree in Municipal Administration.
